Nördlingen 2027

Historic Town Wall Festival

10–12 September 2027

Every three years, the former Free Imperial City of Nördlingen returns to the Middle Ages for a whole weekend during the Historic Town Wall Festival. The evocative streets and squares of the medieval old town fill with traditional craftspeople, historical musicians, jesters, magicians and acrobats, travelling entertainers, spirited camp followers, flag throwers, drummers and much more. The ceremonial opening on the Marktplatz launches the festival on Friday, 10 September 2027, at 18:00. It marks the start of medieval music and dance, colourful camp life and the bustle of a historic fair. On Saturday, 11 September 2027, enjoy the grand traditions and folklore parade, with horse-drawn teams, hay wagons, timber carts and scenes of rural life in the Nördlinger Ries.

The highlight of the three-day spectacle is the grand historic parade on Sunday, 12 September 2027, with more than 2,500 participants and numerous groups – and, of course, the ceremonial tattoo that closes the Historic Town Wall Festival on Sunday evening.

Immerse yourself in three unforgettable days in the Middle Ages. Several thousand residents in historical dress offer a glimpse into Nördlingen’s rich history. A special experience for young and old, under the motto ‘A Town Experiences Its History’.
